Introduction

Why did I decide to write this book? I believe a lot of design concepts are going to last for a long time and most importantly the

I was lucky enough to start my career years ago and join a huge advertising company in São Paulo, Brazil, called DM9DDB — a Brazilian subsidiary of the DDB group in Brazil.

This book is not only for students, but I want to make sure you can apply it in your daily job. Bringing a little bit of a fresh mind and a new approach.

I will take you to all the UX methodologies out there that I believe will be useful for a Design Sprint.

Problem solver Mindset

And the unique name.

Design is about understanding people so that you can create products and services that fulfil their needs.

I was amazed by the quality of some projects made by students and this inspired me to shape this Bootcamp Sprint Design® model.

In not my intend here to explain all the methodologies in every single details and that’s why I will link to the best resources out there.

You don’t need to have graduated from Harvard or worked at companies like Google, Meta, Amazon, or Tesla to be smart. Intelligent people can be found anywhere. In my opinion, one of the dumbest things is how Google overpays many people who essentially copied most of their ideas from the much smaller competitor, DuckDuckGo.

When I was working at Buscapé, I remember the first time I had to start looking for UX/UI Designers. a new role that HR couldn’t find people in. I remember telling them in a meeting: find smart people. Smart people will figure out a solution for everything.

One of my first interns was Suene. She was pretty smart, so I assigned her the task of finding all the formats for SSN and EIN numbers for countries that speak Portuguese and English. At that time, we needed to add payment services to QueBarato!1 — an online marketplace we had built. We had to add this information for each website per country. Google failed to help us find the information, but in just a few hours, Suene found the answer. She called all the embassies and asked for the format. It took less time than expected, and we obtained official information from each government.

I believe, if you have the correct resources and enough time, anyone can learn.

I have had interviews with big techs in my life, and I don’t think some of those people are so brilliant (like they think about themselves).

The idea behind all that is to bring the agility and fast approach to solve problems to companies, start up a or any organizations willing to find new solutions.

If you want to be a better designer, don’t study design books. Study sculpture. Study paintings. Study cars, watches, philosophers, movies, fiction, music, people. Study the world.

Smart people are into other things, not only design.
